Finally (mostly) moved

We've finally got to the point where we can actually live in our new place. Whew! Moving is difficult and stressful. For the past few moves, we've used moving companies. Since we were only moving about 25 miles this time, we decided to do it ourselves. I had some help from a friend (funny how few friends one has when it comes to moving ;-) with the Tetris-like manipulation of large or awkward pieces of furniture; but, otherwise, we did it ourselves.

I'm very glad we went sans moving company this time. Nothing drives home the accumulation of junk like having to move all that junk from one place to another. We're not "consumerist" by any serious measure; but, my god we've got a lot of JUNK.

Why do we need (never mind want) all this junk?

The only things I seriously value are my books, computers, stereo, and beer. I still value my truck and motorcycle. Obviously, the truck is indispensible. The motorcycle was indispensible living out in our previous rural area. But, here in the city, it's more of a luxury ... a bicycle will probably do just as well.

But the rest is just junk. Perhaps as I recover from the move, my opinion will settle back into comfort-mode where the subjective value of the junk around me creeps higher. Consciousness is a wonderful thing; but it sure is surreptitious and fickle.

Annoying Content Assist in Eclipse

To turn off that annoying automatic "Content Assist" in Eclipse, go to Windows->Preferences... Select the language/tool with which you're working. E.g. Ant->Editor-Content Assist. And uncheck the Enable Auto Activation checkbox.
